Dronningkrona, Mountain summit in Sunndal, Norway
Dronningkrona is a mountain summit in the Trollheimen range that reaches 1816 meters in elevation. The peak stands within the Vinnufjellet massif in the Sunndal region.
The peak received its name from Norwegian royal tradition, meaning Queen's Crown. It was formed as a pair with the nearby Kongskrona summit, whose name translates to King's Crown.
Local mountaineering traditions incorporate this peak as a fundamental destination for Norwegian mountain sports enthusiasts seeking technical climbing experiences.
The hike begins from Dalsbøen in Viromdalen valley and covers 7.5 kilometers (4.7 mi) with roughly 1600 meters (5250 ft) of elevation gain. The route follows marked paths and traverses exposed slopes above the tree line.
The summit offers sweeping 360-degree views of the surrounding terrain without requiring a glacier crossing. This sets it apart from the slightly taller neighboring peak, which demands such a technical crossing.
