Fetsund Bridge, Road bridge across Glomma River in Lillestrøm, Norway
The Fetsund Bridge is a road bridge spanning the Glomma River in Lillestrøm Municipality, connecting the eastern and western parts of the local area. The structure stretches roughly 595 meters (1,955 feet) across the water and carries traffic that links the surrounding communities.
The original wooden bridge was built in 1860 to cross the river, serving the needs of that era. Over the following century, new structures were added: a steel railway bridge arrived in 1919, and the current road bridge was completed in 1959.
The bridge location marks the transition point where timber transportation methods changed, influencing the development of local logging practices and trade routes.
The bridge is part of National Road 22 and carries regular vehicle traffic between the local areas. When visiting, be aware of the railway tracks nearby and exercise caution, especially if you want to explore the other bridge structures on the site.
The bridge site maintains three distinct crossing structures: the modern road bridge, the steel railway bridge, and a dedicated pathway for pedestrians.
