Labo, municipality of the Philippines in the province of Camarines Norte
Labo is a municipality in Camarines Norte located in the central part of the province. Surrounded by mountains, it provides access to around 38 waterfalls, rivers like Canapawan, and caves with stalactites and stalagmites.
Labo was founded over 200 years ago and grew from a small settlement into a significant municipality. The town preserves memories of early settlers and important events through landmarks like the Veterans' Monument and the Labo Museum.
The name Labo comes from a story involving a Spanish missionary who heard a local say 'Labo po ng tubig,' meaning murky water. Local artisans continue to weave textiles from pineapple leaves and abaca fiber, keeping a craft tradition alive in the community.
Labo lies about 16 kilometers from Daet and is easily reached by bus or car via the main highway. The town has basic guesthouses and small eateries, with the best visiting time during dry months when waterfalls and hiking trails are readily accessible.
The municipality is known for piña weaving, where fabrics are made from pineapple leaves and crafted into high-quality clothing. From the same pineapple harvest comes the local drink Queench, which visitors can taste and which showcases the region's distinctive flavor.
