House of Representatives of the Philippines, Legislative complex in Batasan Hills, Philippines

Batasang Pambansa Complex is a legislative building in Batasan Hills, Philippines, defined by heavy concrete walls and a steeply angled roof. The roof slope recalls traditional wooden houses found across the region.

Construction finished in 1978, replacing an older capitol project from 1949 that never reached completion due to lack of funds. Three architects worked on the design across decades: Federico Ilustre, Anselmo Alquinto, and Felipe Mendoza.

The name of the complex comes from the national legislative assembly that has been there since the 1980s. Visitors can now walk through public hallways and see the rooms where legislators still debate laws.

The main plenary hall sits inside the central building and hosts legislative sessions and major national events. Visitors planning a trip should check in advance whether public tours or sessions are scheduled.

A library inside the complex displays objects from Philippine legislative history. Near the entrance stand wooden sculptures by artist Jose M Mendoza.
