Anchor Skysuites, Organic architecture skyscraper in Binondo, Philippines
Anchor Skysuites is a 53-floor residential tower in Binondo, Manila, built in an organic architectural style designed to bring in natural light and air. The building holds 346 apartments and includes shared facilities such as a pool, a gym, and sports courts.
Work on the tower started in 2011, and the structural shell was in place by the end of 2014. The building was completed and handed over in 2015.
The apartments face south following Feng Shui principles, a practice deeply rooted in Binondo, the oldest Chinatown in the world. Walking through the neighborhood, visitors can see how these beliefs still shape the way buildings are oriented and designed today.
The tower sits in Binondo, a busy neighborhood with streets that are easy to navigate on foot and well connected to the rest of Manila. The pool and gym are reserved for residents, so it is worth checking access conditions before visiting.
The building is considered the tallest structure in a Chinatown district outside of China, a claim that sets it apart from similar neighborhoods around the world. This makes it an unusual reference point in an area otherwise known for its old temples and narrow market streets.
