Dârjiu fortified church

Dârjiu fortified church is a fortified place of worship in the village of Dârjiu, Romania, built with a central tower and thick defensive walls. The structure was expanded and reinforced over time with additional bastions and protective layers added to the original building.

Construction began in the 14th century as a Catholic church at a time when such buildings served communities in this region. Over the 16th century, Gothic elements were added and defensive features were built around the structure to protect those inside.
