Fortified church in Criț, Brașov

The Fortified church in Criț is a religious building featuring thick defensive walls, corner towers, and a polygonal ring wall encircling the main structure. Grain storage rooms were integrated into the defensive system, showing how such buildings served multiple practical purposes for the community.

The current structure was built between 1521 and 1524, replacing an earlier church with stronger defensive features and reinforced towers. An inscription from 1524 marks the completion of this reconstruction, leaving a lasting record of the transformation.

The interior gallery from the 18th century displays floral decorative patterns and images of other regional fortified churches, reflecting how Saxon communities expressed their architectural identity through shared design elements.
