Iași Botanical Garden is a collection of over 9,800 plant species organized across distinct growing areas following scientific principles. The site includes greenhouses, beds with Mediterranean plants, and open sections dedicated to systematic study and display.

This garden was founded in 1856 as the first university botanical garden in Romania by a physician. That foundation marked the beginning of organized scientific plant research in the country.

The garden's name honours Anastasie Fătu, the physician who founded it in 1856; a street near Râpa Galbenă still bears his name. In the Systematic Section, a fountain built in Moldavian style stands among the beds, and a small display of fossil wood is shown there. Since 2009 the garden has belonged to the International Plant Exchange Network.

The outdoor areas are open during the day, while the greenhouses have more limited hours than the outside sections. It is wise to allow time for both parts and to consider weather conditions, as some areas are covered and others are not.

A special section has been designed for people with visual impairments, allowing them to explore plants through touch and smell. This thoughtful feature makes the garden accessible to visitors in different ways.
