Pekri Castle

Pekri Castle is a historic monument in Ozd with a rectangular layout and corner bastions displaying Gothic architectural features. The structure sits on a hilltop and commands views across the surrounding landscape with its solid stone walls and fortified design.

The castle was built in 1682 and reflects the military construction standards of that era. Following an attack that damaged the structure, it was rebuilt in 1732 under the direction of Radák Ádám, restoring much of its defensive capability.

The castle reflects the tastes of Transylvanian nobles and served as a school and cultural gathering place throughout different periods. The spaces within still show traces of these various community roles.

The hilltop location makes the castle visible from a distance and offers good orientation for exploring the surroundings. Visitors should be aware that ongoing restoration work may affect access to certain areas of the complex.

The castle grounds once contained a park with a lake that no longer exists, though the landscape still bears traces of this former garden design. This expansive setting once enhanced the prominence of the estate in the region.
