Saint Paul's Lutheran Church

Saint Paul's Lutheran Church is a red brick building with Gothic elements including pointed arches and decorative details. Inside, biblical scenes appear in stained glass windows, and the original organ still stands ready for concerts and services.

German architect Georg Junghändel designed the building between 1907 and 1909, replacing an earlier wooden church that served the Lutheran community from 1887. This brick structure was built during a period when many German settlers were arriving in this Russian port city.

The church represents the early German community in Vladivostok, including military officers, scientists, and merchants who made this city their home. Its design and interior details show the connection these residents maintained with their Central European heritage.

The church sits on Pushkinskaya Street in central Vladivostok and is easily reached on foot from downtown areas. Visitors can explore the interior and may attend organ concerts that take place throughout the year.

From 1950 to 1990, the building served as the Military and History Museum of the Pacific Fleet before returning to its original role as a place of worship. This period as a museum helped preserve the church during a time when many religious buildings were demolished or abandoned.
