Saint Catherine cathedral in Tsarskoye Selo, Orthodox cathedral in Pushkin, Russia
Saint Catherine Cathedral in Pushkin is a house of worship in Russian-Byzantine style with five gilded domes, rebuilt between 2006 and 2010. The building displays classic features of this architectural style with spacious interiors and three separate altar spaces for different religious devotions.
The original building was destroyed by Soviet authorities in 1939 using explosives, representing a major cultural loss. The sanctuary was then reconstructed in the early 2000s following historical plans.
The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Catherine and shows Russian Orthodox faith through its three altars honoring different saints and the imperial family. The way worshippers use the space and pray reflects deep religious traditions rooted in the region for centuries.
The cathedral is open to visitors and offers regular services for different times of devotion. Before visiting, dress appropriately and show respectful behavior as is customary in houses of worship.
During the reconstruction, a creative donation initiative was carried out where citizens could purchase personally inscribed bricks for the walls. Every twenty-fifth brick bore the donor's name and created a lasting connection between the community and the reborn sanctuary.
