Gostiny dvor, Pushkin

Gostiny dvor is a stone trading building featuring arched galleries supported by Tuscan-style twin columns and pavilions topped with attic mezzanines along the facade. Located at 25 Moskovskaya Street, it connects directly to Cathedral Square and houses shopping galleries arranged around a central arch-portal.

After a devastating fire in 1862 destroyed wooden structures, architect N.S. Nikitin designed this stone building, which opened for trade in 1866. The structure represents a 19th-century response to the need for a fireproof trading place in Pushkin.

The trading complex maintains its original commercial purpose as a hub of daily activity next to the Pushkin market. Visitors can observe residents shopping and gathering here, making it a living center of community life.

The building sits at 25 Moskovskaya Street, just steps from Cathedral Square and easy to locate. The open galleries allow browsing in mild weather, though visitors will find covered sections for rainy conditions.

The complex features a semi-circular meat pavilion with cross-shaped pillars and triangular pediments designed specifically for fish shops. This specialized architecture reveals how the building separated different goods and traders based on their specific needs.
