Church of the Transfiguration

The Church of the Transfiguration features granite walls, wooden elements, and a tall spire that stands against the northern sky of Saint Petersburg.

Built in 1908 by Finnish architect Josef Stenbäck, the church represents a period when Zelenogorsk, then called Terijoki, was a summer resort for Saint Petersburg elite.

The religious building demonstrates the national Romantic architectural movement through its combination of natural materials and traditional Nordic design elements.

Visitors can reach the church by taking a train from Saint Petersburg to Zelenogorsk station and walking east along Primorskoe Highway for 10 minutes.

The structure maintains its original architectural features from 1908, including specific window patterns and decorative stone arrangements characteristic of Finnish church design.
