Московская центральная церковь ЕХБ, Baptist church in Maly Trekhsvyatitelsky Lane, Moscow, Russia.
The Moscow Central Church of Evangelical Christian Baptists (EKhB) is a Protestant church building located in central Moscow, not far from the Garden Ring road. The building has a plain facade without domes or ornate decoration, and the interior is arranged around a large hall suited to congregational singing and preaching.
The Baptist community in Moscow took shape in the second half of the 19th century, at a time when Protestant groups operated under tight restrictions from the Russian imperial authorities. Through the Soviet period, the congregation managed to survive and this church continued to serve as a central point for Baptists across Russia.
The congregation holds its services in Russian, and visitors can often hear choir singing through the open doors on weekday evenings. The building is used throughout the week for Bible study groups and community gatherings, not only on Sundays.
The church is within walking distance of several central metro stations and sits in a mixed residential and commercial area that is easy to navigate on foot. Visitors are generally welcome to attend services, but checking the weekly schedule in advance is a good idea before planning a visit.
This church is one of the few Protestant congregations in Moscow that remained officially registered and never fully closed during the Soviet era, which made it a point of contact for Baptists coming from across the country. Because of this, it built connections with communities in regions far from the capital that still exist today.
