Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, Federal heritage theatre in Tverskoy District, Moscow, Russia
The Moscow Art Theatre features a grand facade with Art Nouveau elements, designed by architect Fyodor Schechtel in the early 1900s.
Founded in 1898 by Konstantin Stanislavski and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, the theatre established new standards for naturalistic acting in Russia.
The theatre became the birthplace of the Stanislavski Method, a revolutionary acting technique that influenced performing arts education worldwide.
The theatre presents performances in Russian language with simultaneous translation services available through individual headsets for international visitors.
During its 1922 international tour, the theatre company traveled with 30 railroad cars of sets, props, and costumes across Europe and the United States.
