Kaluzhskaya Tikhonova pustyn

The monastic complex includes six churches, two hermitages, and two museums within stone walls beside the Vepreyka River in Kaluga Region.

Founded in the 15th century by Saint Tikhon of Kaluga, the monastery received support from Ivan III before the Great Standing on the Ugra River in 1480.

The monastery maintains a museum featuring a diorama depicting the Great Standing on the Ugra River, a significant event in Russian medieval history.

The monastery provides accommodations for visitors, operates a bakery, sells religious items, and holds daily religious services in different churches throughout the week.

The monastery's founder Saint Tikhon initially lived inside a hollow oak tree and dug a well that remains active in the Life-Giving Spring hermitage.
