Park-Usadba Trubeckih, Noble estate park in Khamovniki, Russia
Park-Usadba Trubeckih is an estate park in Moscow's Khamovniki District that features two artificial ponds with contrasting designs, old trees, and walking paths throughout the grounds. The site also contains a petting zoo, bird enclosure, children's center, and an ecological trail showcasing rare plant species found in the region.
The estate originated in 1683 when Prince Vasily Golitsyn received permission to build his residence behind the Khamovnaya settlement. The grounds later became public property and were transformed into a park that served educational purposes for Moscow residents.
The name preserves the memory of the Trubetskoy family who shaped this land for centuries. Today, people still come here to experience the grounds as a place for learning about nature and spending time outdoors.
The park is accessible on foot with wide paths suitable for walking, though some areas may have uneven ground. Plan enough time to explore the different sections, including the petting area and educational stations, and wear comfortable shoes for walking through the varied terrain.
During World War II, the site housed military operations including anti-aircraft guns and repair facilities, which required clearing many trees. The forests visible today were replanted over decades as the grounds recovered from wartime use.
