Чернавский мост, Steel bridge in Voronezh, Russia
The Chernavsky Bridge is a steel road bridge over the Voronezh River in Voronezh, Russia, linking the city center to the left bank. It carries multiple lanes of traffic in both directions and has a pedestrian walkway along its side.
A wooden crossing originally stood at this spot before being replaced by a concrete structure. The bridge was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt afterward.
The Chernavsky Bridge connects central Voronezh to the left bank of the river and is part of the daily routine for many residents who cross it on foot or by car. From the pedestrian path, you can look out over the water and watch the city on both sides.
The bridge is open at all hours and can be crossed on foot or by vehicle. Outside of morning and evening rush hours, traffic is lighter and walking across is more comfortable.
The creation of a large reservoir upstream altered the water levels around the bridge and caused foundation problems that required major repair work. Those repairs took several decades to complete, stretching into the late 20th century.
