Vänersborg Municipality

Vänersborg is a municipality in Västra Götaland covering approximately 900 square kilometers in western Sweden. Its administrative center operates from Sundsgatan 29, serving around 40,000 residents with municipal services.

The municipality was founded in 1644 when residents of the former city of Brätte relocated to a new strategic location. This relocation led to the establishment of a fortified settlement at a key junction of transportation routes.
