Saint Mary Church

Saint Mary Church is a three-nave building with red brick architecture from the medieval period and four towers visible on its front. Inside you will find 15th-century religious artworks and a collection of silver items displayed in the vestry below.

Construction began in the early 1300s on the location of an older Romanesque church from the 1100s. The building was expanded and modified several times as religious and architectural styles changed over the following centuries.

The church reflects the religious identity of Helsingborg and shows how the community has kept faith practices alive across centuries. You can observe how visitors and locals use the space as a place for both spiritual reflection and connection to the city's past.

The church is located in central Helsingborg and easily reached on foot from other nearby attractions like the Kärnan tower. Visit during posted opening hours and note that access may be limited during services or special events.

Two of the four tower clocks came from a church that was demolished during the 1500s religious upheaval, creating an unexpected link between two houses of worship. This detail shows how objects survive political and religious changes by being incorporated into new buildings.
