Gamlegård, Helsingborg

Gamlegård is a historic merchant house in central Helsingborg connected to two major streets through separate entrances and a passage. The structure now contains a restaurant and event spaces that serve the local community.

The building was constructed in 1711-1712 to replace an earlier structure destroyed during conflict in the late 1600s. It rose from the aftermath of regional instability that had damaged the previous merchant house.

The house hosted generations of influential city residents who shaped local society through their roles and gatherings. It functioned as a meeting place where important community events and civic activities took place.

The location is easily accessible from two different streets in the heart of the city center. Visitors can stop at the restaurant or simply walk through the passage connecting the two street sides.

The cellar spaces are linked to the production of Military Punch, a distinctive alcoholic specialty from the past. This connection to a local product adds an unexpected chapter to the building's story.
