Herrängens gård, Historic farmhouse in Älvsjö, Sweden
Herrängens gård is a farmhouse in Älvsjö situated near Lake Långsjön, comprising a main building with two wing structures on either side. The buildings feature horizontal wood panels painted in green oil paint.
The property was originally known as Isbergatorpet cottage in the 17th century under the Långbro farm, before it received its current name. In 1747, councilman Gustaf Johan Ruth took over the lease and gave the place its new identity.
The property carries a blue marking from Stockholm City Museum, recognizing its exceptional architectural and historical importance to Swedish cultural heritage. This designation reflects how the community values and maintains this site.
The property operates today as a restaurant and café, open Wednesday through Sunday offering European and Scandinavian cuisine. The location at Segeltorpsvägen 49-51 makes it easy to find and accessible from Stockholm.
During 1958 renovations, workers discovered hidden original wallpapers that now decorate the main hall on the ground floor. This find offers a fascinating glimpse into the interior design of earlier periods.
