Ingvar Kamprad Design Centre

The Ingvar Kamprad Design Centre is a research building at Lund University equipped with modern workshops and specialized laboratories. It houses woodworking and metalworking shops, a product photography studio, and laboratory spaces for different types of research side by side.

The Industrial Design Program at Lund University grew in the late 1990s with support from the IKEA Stichting Foundation. This investment made it possible to expand student places and build better facilities.

The center serves as a space where students and researchers engage in solving everyday problems through design thinking. This practical approach connects academic work directly to the needs of people outside university walls.

Access to the building is limited since it is a specialized research facility primarily used by enrolled students. Visitors should plan ahead and contact the university to arrange a possible tour.

The building houses a specialized Aerosol and Climate Laboratory focused on measuring airborne particles. This research contributes to understanding air quality both indoors and outdoors.
