Hägerstens gård, Manor house in Hägersten, Stockholm, Sweden
Hägerstens gård is a classical manor house with two wings and detailed architectural elements adorning its facade. The building now contains five apartments after its conversion into a housing cooperative in 1997.
The estate first appeared in records in 1432 as the holding Hægrasteen, which remained under the administration of Årsta Manor until the division of lands in 1763. This separation established its status as an independent property.
Carl Michael Bellman's sister Catharina Christina made her home here with her husband Claes Arrhén von Kapfelman, and her life inspired several of the poet's compositions. Her residence connected the estate to Sweden's literary circles.
The building functions as a private residence and is not open to visitors since it operates as a housing cooperative. However, it can be viewed from outside and makes for an interesting stop during a walk through the area.
Olof Eneroth, Sweden's first pomologist, was born here in 1825 and shaped the nation's study of fruit cultivation. His pioneering work linked the estate to the beginnings of Swedish horticultural science.
