Črni Križ, Monument of local significance in Lormanje, Slovenia.
Črni Križ is a monument of local significance located in a wooded area near Komarniško Lake in the Municipality of Lenart. The stone structure stands along hiking paths through the Črni les forest, marking a specific site of local importance.
Count Ivan Friderik Herberstein established the monument in 1605, setting a marker on this woodland site. Over the centuries, it underwent repairs in the 1660s and 1700s, with a significant restoration by the Catholic Cultural Society Zarja in 1936.
The monument preserves the memory of Count Friedrich and Agata from Štraleka, whose tragic love story ended with her execution on witchcraft charges. This tale remains part of the local collective memory and shapes how people understand the site.
The site is accessible via marked hiking trails that wind through the Črni les forest area. Wear sturdy footwear as the paths are forested and can be muddy, especially during wet seasons.
The monument remained largely undocumented for centuries before receiving official recognition in 2016, despite its long presence in this forest location. This late acknowledgment reflects how many rural landmarks escape formal attention until recent times.
