Driny, Limestone cave entrance in Small Carpathians, Slovakia.

Driny is a limestone cave in the Small Carpathians that extends over 600 meters through the rock. The passages form a network with natural formations throughout.

The cave remained unknown until 1929 when two explorers first documented what lay inside. It opened to visitors in 1934, making it accessible to the general public.

The passages inside carry names tied to local stories and important people from the region's past. These names help visitors connect the cave to the lives and events that shaped this part of Slovakia.

You need to walk uphill for about 20 minutes from the parking area to reach the entrance. Guided tours are available from April through October, with closures on Mondays.

Inside, the temperature stays around 8 degrees Celsius year-round with very high humidity levels. These steady conditions allow rock formations to grow into shapes that look like elephant ears.
