Hnilická Kýčera, Mountain summit in Lúčanská Malá Fatra, Slovakia
Hnilická Kýčera is a mountain summit located on the border between Žilina and Martin districts within the Lúčanská Malá Fatra range. The peak rises to 1,217.6 meters (3,994 ft) and sits at the junction where dense forest meets open mountain meadows.
The mountain has served as a natural boundary between neighboring administrative regions for decades. Its position became formalized as a district border when Slovakia established its territorial divisions in the 20th century.
The trails crossing this area form part of the European long-distance path E3, connecting hikers from different countries along a shared route. Visitors from across Europe use these same paths, creating a sense of community among those who walk here.
Well-marked trails lead to the summit starting from Porubská dolina and are easy to follow. A natural spring near Sedlo pod Hnilickou Kýčerou provides fresh water during the hike, which is helpful for longer walks.
The summit is crowned by a mountain meadow surrounded by thick forest, creating a natural lookout point. From this open area, visitors can see across the broader Carpathian landscape in every direction.
