Javorový štít

Javorový štít is a mountain summit reaching 2418 meters (7933 ft) within the High Tatras range, characterized by granite and limestone slopes. The peak offers multiple established climbing routes suited to different skill levels.

Prince Christian Hohenlohe acquired the surrounding region in 1879 and established a protected hunting area that restricted visitor access. This control limited public routes to just two official trails for many decades.

The name Javorový štít means Maple Peak, reflecting how Slovak geographic naming connects to local plant life in the region. This connection to nature remains visible today in the surrounding forests and landscape.

Access to the summit is possible through established trails from Poprad or Zakopane, with route choice depending on your fitness level. Winter conditions demand extra caution and may require special permits before attempting the climb.

Nearby lies the Mokrá Diera cave system containing underground water formations among the Tatra Mountains' most notable geological features. This hidden natural wonder reveals the mountain range's deep geological story beyond what the summit itself shows.
