Holubyho chata, schronisko na Słowacji
Holubyho chata is a mountain hut located on Veľká Javorina in the White Carpathians at approximately 920 meters elevation. The building contains a dining room serving traditional Slovak food, a rest area, and a terrace with views overlooking the surrounding mountains and forests.
The hut was built in 1923 and has served hikers and outdoor adventurers as a rest stop ever since. Over the decades it has been repaired and modernized multiple times while maintaining its original character and importance to the region's mountain tradition.
The hut's name comes from a local mountain guide and reflects the hiking traditions of the region. Today it serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors share meals and exchange stories about their mountain journeys.
The hut is accessible year-round and can be reached on foot via marked hiking trails or by car from Lubina. It is best to visit during daylight hours as the trails are safer to walk and the views from the summit are clearest during the day.
Near the hut is a small farm with animals where visitors can see and feed sheep, goats, and other livestock. This unexpected feature makes the experience particularly enjoyable for families with children and combines mountain hiking with rural farm life.
