Cathedral of Our Lady, N'Djamena

The Cathedral of Our Lady exhibits modern architecture with clean lines, an arched roof structure, and stands near Charles de Gaulle Avenue and Avenue Félix Éboué.

The cathedral, inaugurated in 1965, underwent rebuilding between 1983 and 1986 after suffering damage during the civil conflicts of 1979 and 1980.

The Cathedral serves as the central religious institution for the 23 percent of Chad's Catholic population and functions as the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese.

The 2019 restoration project involved 96 tonnes of steel transported through Spain and Algeria, requiring precise engineering calculations to maintain structural integrity.

The April 2023 reopening ceremony brought together religious leaders and the Transitional President of Chad, marking a new chapter for this religious landmark.
