Mukdahan

Mukdahan is a province in northeastern Thailand that stretches along the Mekong River and forms a natural border with Laos to the east. The region divides into seven districts connected by roads that link towns and countryside.

The province was created in 1982 when the government separated it from the neighboring Nakhon Phanom province. This division established a new administrative area that has developed since then.

Local communities keep their traditions alive through everyday crafts and the languages they speak at home and in markets. You can see how different groups have shaped the character of towns and rural areas throughout the region.

The Second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge connects the provincial capital with Savannakhet in Laos and allows crossing between the two countries. Keep in mind this is an active border crossing with standard checks.

Within the province sits Phu Pha Yon National Park, featuring limestone formations, waterfalls, and forest areas. The park protects wildlife populations across its mountain terrain.
