Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkhon

Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkhon is a large temple structure with a towering chedi at its center that rises significantly above the surrounding grounds. The building contains multiple levels with meeting spaces, a museum displaying the temple's history, and artwork throughout its interior.

The chedi was designed as a modern structure that combines architectural styles from central Thailand and the northeastern Isan region. Its creation brought together different regional building traditions into one work.

The structure houses Buddhist relics and artistic works that reflect the faith of the region. Visitors can explore murals inside that depict stories central to Buddhist teachings.

The temple sits in a rural area and is best reached by private vehicle or taxi. Comfortable shoes are recommended since stairs and pathways lead through different levels of the grounds.

An observation deck on one of the upper floors is covered with light-colored tiles that help keep the space cool. From this level, visitors can see smaller chedis dotted across the landscape below.
