Kantang, Administrative district in Trang Province, Thailand.
Located at the mouth of the Trang River, Kantang District encompasses fourteen sub-districts with a total area of 612 square kilometers.
From 1893 to 1916, Kantang served as the capital of Trang Province until authorities relocated it inland due to recurring floods.
The city pillar shrine of Trang, a sacred monument in Thai tradition, remains at its original location in the Khuan Thani area of Kantang.
The district contains eighty-three villages across its sub-districts, with the town of Kantang operating under thirteen separate administrative organizations.
Situated at nine meters above sea level, Kantang's position near the Andaman Sea supports a major fishing industry and numerous coastal communities.
