Alalakh, Archaeological site in Hatay Province, Turkey

The excavation area contains two palace ruins from 1900-1500 BCE, built on stone foundations with mud-brick walls around central courtyards.

The settlement, established in 3400 BCE, features 17 distinct layers of civilization, including Egyptian, Mitanni, Mesopotamian, and Hittite occupation periods.

The Level VII palace, constructed by Prince Yarim-Lim of Yamhad and contemporary with Babylonian King Hammurabi, represents regional architectural traditions.

The archaeological site lies 22 kilometers from Antakya along the Reyhanli road, with artifacts displayed at the Hatay Archaeological Museum.

The Level IV palace of King Niqmepa from 1500 BCE demonstrates sophisticated administrative organization through its archived clay tablets.
