Phaselis

Phaselis is an ancient city on a peninsula with ruins of theaters, baths, and aqueducts built over centuries. The remains spread across the landscape between natural harbors and sandy beaches.

Settlers from Rhodes founded the city around 690 BCE and developed it into a major trade center under Persian, Greek, and Roman control. Settlement declined in the 7th century CE.

The market squares and public buildings show how trade and community life functioned in this ancient harbor city. These spaces reveal the daily rhythms of a prosperous Mediterranean port.

The site is open daily and allows visitors to move between archaeological structures and swimming areas. Paths wind through the ruins, and shaded rest areas are available.

Three natural harbors surround the ancient site and let visitors shift between history and water. Many swim or snorkel among the ruins, creating an unusual blend of leisure and discovery.
