Rahmi M. Koç Museum, Industrial museum in Hasköy, Istanbul, Turkey.
The Rahmi M. Koç Museum is a transport and industrial museum in Hasköy, on the shore of the Golden Horn in Istanbul. The collection spreads across two linked historic buildings with courtyards, exhibition halls, and an outdoor waterfront area.
The museum opened in 1994 inside the Lengerhane Building, a Byzantine anchor foundry dating from the 12th century. The Ottomans later used the site as a shipyard and arsenal for their fleet on the Golden Horn.
The museum takes its name from Turkish industrialist Rahmi M. Koç, who opened his private collection to the public. Visitors today walk through historic workshop halls along the Golden Horn where craftsmen once forged anchors.
The museum opens six days each week and provides wheelchair access to most areas. Visitors can take short trips on the Golden Horn aboard the historic tugboat Rosalie.
Visitors can walk up close to a de Havilland Vampire jet and step inside the Fenerbahçe steamboat. The collection also preserves rare telephone exchanges and mechanical calculators from the early 20th century.
