Istanbul Aquarium is a building with around 66 tanks spread across two floors, housing roughly 15,000 marine creatures in their displays. The facility spans several thousand square meters and shows different aquatic habitats and ocean dwellers.
The facility opened in 2011 and has been a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums since then. This membership established it as a recognized place for presenting marine life.
The facility presents marine life from different regions, taking visitors on a journey from the Black Sea toward the Pacific Ocean. You experience how the surroundings and creatures shift from one area to the next.
The location is near the airport and easily accessible by car, with parking available on site. Inside, there are several cafeterias and a restaurant where you can rest and eat meals.
Your visit follows a planned route through various themed zones, including an artificial rainforest with controlled temperature and humidity. This designed setting creates for visitors a sense of stepping into real ecosystems.
