Shanshuilu Eco Park, Ecological park in Nangang District, Taiwan
Shanshuilu Eco Park is a nature park in the Nangang District of Taipei, built on a former industrial site and now home to wetlands, wooded areas, and open green spaces. Wooden walkways connect different sections of the grounds, and several observation decks offer views over the surrounding landscape.
The site served as a landfill for Taipei for many years before going through an environmental restoration process. It reopened in 2011 as a park, marking the end of its industrial past.
The name reflects the historical presence of wild boars in the surrounding valleys, commemorated through stone sculptures along the slope. This connection to local nature remains visible throughout the grounds.
The park is open every day and can be visited at any hour, though early morning and evening tend to be cooler and less crowded. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, as some paths are uneven or run over wooden boards.
A section of the park is dedicated to showing solar and wind power systems installed within the restored natural setting, which is an unusual combination to find in a city park. Stone sculptures along the slopes also reference the wild boars that once roamed the surrounding valleys, giving the place its name.
