Velykodolynske

Velykodolynske is a small settlement in Odesa Oblast near the Black Sea coast. The place lies between the regional center and the shoreline, with two churches forming its distinctive character.

German colonists founded the settlement in the early 1800s, first calling it Gross Liebenthal. The original name and the churches still carry the memory of those founding times.

Two Lutheran churches stand in the settlement, reflecting the German heritage that shaped religious life here for centuries. They remain visible reminders of how faith and tradition anchored the community through different periods.

Three railway stations connect the settlement to larger cities in the region, while highway H33 provides good road access. Visitors arriving by train will find easy connections to nearby towns and regional centers.

The settlement was long classified as an urban-type place but underwent a recent administrative shift to rural status. This reclassification reflects how smaller communities in the region are being redefined.
