Memorial of Odesa defense

The Memorial of Odesa defense is a memorial park in Odesa that spreads across large grounds displaying stone monuments, historical military equipment, and commemorative plaques. The site features paved pathways connecting different sections, making it easy for visitors to move between the various memorial areas and displays.

The memorial park was created to remember the Soviet defense of Odesa during a 73-day siege by German and Romanian forces in 1941. The location marks where the 411th Coastal Battery was positioned to defend the harbor from attack.

The site honors those who fought here through displays about their tactics and personal accounts that visitors can discover while walking through. The arrangement of monuments and plaques shows how soldiers were stationed across the grounds and how they lived during the defense.

The park preserves actual fortifications and gun positions from the 411th Battery that visitors can see in their original locations. These surviving structures give a direct sense of how defenders were positioned and worked at this spot.
