Chornomorsk Lighthouse, Maritime navigation tower in Chornomorsk, Ukraine.
The Chornomorsk Lighthouse is a cylindrical tower with red and white horizontal stripes located on the Black Sea coast, serving as a navigational aid for ships. The structure stands at the harbor entrance and projects its signal far out across the water to guide vessels safely.
The lighthouse was built in 1965 as the port town expanded its maritime operations under its former name of Illichivsk. The city was renamed Chornomorsk in 2016.
The lighthouse functions within Chornomorsk urban hromada, a community of 71,733 inhabitants that maintains strong connections to maritime traditions and navigation.
The tower is visible from the harborside promenade and offers good views of the port and sea. The best time to visit is during daylight hours when the striking colors and surroundings are clearly visible.
The structure uses the standard international color coding system for lighthouses, where the red and white stripes guide ships during the day and the light beam works at night. This dual signaling method allows navigation in all conditions.
