Krasnopavlivske Reservoir, Stausee in der Ukraine
Krasnopavlivske Reservoir is a large body of water in Lozova Raion created by damming the Dnieper-Donbas Canal, covering approximately 30 square kilometers (12 square miles). It averages about 12 meters (39 feet) deep with a maximum depth of 20 meters (66 feet), and water flows in from the canal to maintain steady supply for local communities and farming.
The reservoir was built in the 1980s to secure water supply for local communities and industry in the region. This construction was part of a larger development period in Ukraine when many major infrastructure projects were undertaken to improve living conditions for residents.
The name Krasnopavlivske comes from the nearby village of Krasnopavlivka and reflects local identity. Today it serves as a gathering place where residents fish, walk, and spend leisure time by the water, making it part of everyday community life.
The reservoir is easily accessible from nearby roads, and many locals drive or walk there for leisure and recreation. There are no formal facilities or visitor centers, but the open land invites walking along the shore, fishing, or spending quiet time by the water.
Water flows into this reservoir from the Dnieper-Donbas Canal, a distant water system that brings supply from far-away sources to feed the region. This connection to a large canal network makes it part of a broader infrastructure that extends across hundreds of kilometers.
