The stone cathedral stands on the right bank of the Seversky Donets River, featuring traditional Ukrainian Orthodox architectural elements with white walls and golden domes.
The cathedral replaced a deteriorating riverside church in 1826, becoming a primary religious center for Orthodox Christians in the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine.
The building contains the revered icon of Mother of God Peschanskaya, discovered by Saint Joasaphus in the 18th century according to religious records.
The cathedral opens daily for visitors at Moskovska Street 30, with accommodations for pilgrims available in the adjacent guest facilities.
Next to the cathedral flows a natural spring called Kirichenkova Krynica, which local residents consider to possess healing properties.
