Oleksandrivka, Urban settlement in Oleksandrivka Raion, Ukraine
Oleksandrivka is an urban-type settlement on the left bank of the Southern Bug River in central Ukraine. It has a hydroelectric power station built around a central dam and two railway stations that connect it to the broader region.
Oleksandrivka grew as a small community along the Southern Bug in the early 1900s. In 1968, Soviet administrative reforms gave it the official status of an urban-type settlement, marking a shift in how it was governed and developed.
The settlement sits at the edge of the Buh Gard National Nature Park, and the river draws locals for fishing and walking along its banks. The Southern Bug shapes much of the daily rhythm here in ways that are easy to notice during a visit.
The settlement has two railway stations, with one located a few kilometers from the center, so it helps to check which one is closer to your destination before arriving. The river and the nearby nature park are most accessible in the warmer months.
The dam at Oleksandrivka created a reservoir that now falls within the boundaries of the Buh Gard National Nature Park, even though it was originally built for power generation. This overlap between an industrial structure and a protected natural area is rare in this part of Ukraine.
