Zamek w Bracławiu, Medieval fortress in Bratslav, Ukraine
The fortress stands on elevated ground at the confluence of the Putivka and Southern Bug rivers, featuring defensive earthworks and stone foundations.
Lithuanian Prince Gediminas established the first wooden fortification in 1362 to protect the region from Tatar raids along the southern frontier.
The fortress served as the administrative center of the Bracław Voivodeship, hosting regional assemblies and maintaining military garrisons from various ethnic groups.
The remaining elements of the fortress include earth ramparts and partial stone foundations, accessible through a marked path from the town center.
In 1541, local inhabitants staged a revolt against the royal starosta Frederik Pronski, resulting in the execution of their leader Bohusz Slupica.
