Nuckolls County is an administrative division in southeastern Nebraska that covers approximately 576 square miles. The Republican River flows through the southwestern section near the Kansas border.
The county was formed in 1860 and named after two brothers, though it was not officially organized until 1871. This established the framework for how the region would be governed and administered.
