Rotary Botanical Gardens

Rotary Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden in Janesville featuring diverse plant collections organized into themed sections. The grounds include ponds, landscaped walking paths, and multiple garden styles distributed across the area.

The gardens were established in 1987 by the Janesville Rotary Club, transforming unused land into an organized botanical collection. The project introduced international plant species and diverse gardening traditions to the site.

The Japanese Garden section demonstrates Eastern design principles through carefully placed stones and selected plantings. This area offers visitors a chance to experience a different approach to landscape design and plant arrangement.

Entry requires arriving during operating hours, with children often eligible for reduced admission rates. The site works best during mild weather when walking through different garden sections is most comfortable.

The grounds transform each winter with a large-scale lighting display that illuminates the pathways and planted areas. This seasonal transformation reveals a different side of the garden and draws visitors during the colder months.
