Westminster

Westminster is the county seat of Carroll County in Maryland, located within the Baltimore metropolitan area. The city developed as a commercial and governmental hub with a mix of historic architecture and contemporary urban infrastructure.

The settlement was founded in 1764 and initially called Winchester, but received its current name in 1768 to distinguish itself from Winchester, Virginia. This name change marked the beginning of its identity as a local administrative center.
