Bradley International Airport, International airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, United States
Bradley International Airport sits in the northern part of Connecticut and links the state to dozens of destinations across North America. Three paved runways stretch across roughly 984 hectares, and a two-section terminal building processes several million passengers each year.
The site was established as a military airfield in 1941 and opened for commercial flights in July 1942. Military operations continued alongside civilian activity, with National Guard units occupying a portion of the facility.
The terminal buildings display numerous exhibitions of local Connecticut artists and showcase the region's industrial heritage through permanent installations.
Most domestic flights operate through Southwest, Delta, JetBlue, and American Airlines, while limited international routes reach Canada and the Caribbean. Connections between the two terminal sections are walkable, and signage guides travelers to departure and arrival zones.
The 103rd Airlift Wing of the Connecticut Air National Guard shares the airport and frequently flies C-130 cargo aircraft from here. Civilian passengers sometimes see these military planes taxiing or taking off at some distance from the passenger terminals.
