Pineville, Suburban town in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States

Pineville is a town situated between Charlotte and Fort Mill, featuring retail districts with shopping centers and numerous stores. The community offers mainly commercial and administrative facilities for residents.

Originally called Morrow's Turnout, the town was renamed in 1852 because of the dense pine forests surrounding the Charlotte & Columbia Railroad. This change marked a turning point in the place's development.

The James K. Polk State Historic Site preserves the story of the 11th U.S. president through reconstructed buildings and period objects. The place draws visitors interested in learning about this chapter of American history.

Atrium Health Pineville provides medical care for residents and visitors with modern facilities. Local schools from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg system are distributed throughout the town and easy to reach.

The area developed at the intersection of two Native American trading routes and later became known as a mule trading center during the gold rush. This unexpected history shows how different eras shaped the community.
